COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Board of Commissioners brought forward a request from the Commission on Aging during their work session on Thursday that a five year millage renewal question be placed on the August ballot.
Formal action by the Board of Commissioners is set to take place next Tuesday.
The Commission on Aging Board approved a motion during their February 20 meeting to make the request to the County Commissioners.
Voters will be asked to renew the previously approved millage of up to 0.4857 mill from 2025 until 2029.
Commission on Aging Executive Director Amy Duff says the C.O.A. considered many factors in its recommendation including current fund balances, project budgets and needs for current and future programming for Branch County seniors at the Burnside Center.
She adds the millage is a critical component in the C.O.A.’s budget and it’s estimated it will generate over $868,000 in its first year.
