COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch County Sheriff John Pollack has announced that Deputy Bryan Sandahl has completed a local corrections officer training academy at Kalamazoo Valley Community College.
The four week academy offers a program in various disciplines for local corrections officers.
Training topics include report writing, custody and security, defensive tactics, first aid, mental health awareness, fire safety, interpersonal communications and correctional law.
Pollack says the training helps corrections officers develop and practice the tools necessary to be successful in a high stress environment.
With the influx of foreigners in our little town we will certainly need highly trained police protection. We are rapidly becoming s big city with big city problems.
