BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – Almost as fast as they went up to $3.75, gas prices around Coldwater dropped on Monday to $3.59 at most stations.
The drop reversed a trend in recent weeks. Triple-A says increasing gas demand amid tightening supply pushed the national average price higher.
Spokesperson Adrienne Woodland admits gas prices have been on a roller coaster.
Patrick De Haan, who is the head of petroleum analysis at the web site www.gasbuddy.com said in his blog, “The madness should slow down in the next few weeks as we’ve seen positive data that refinery output is starting to increase, a sign that the peak of maintenance season could be behind us. In some positive news for Midwest motorists, the BP refinery in Whiting, Indiana that can process 440,000 barrels of oil per day is finally back to normal operations for the first time since an electrical failure happened in early February.”
Triple-A Michigan says the average cost in Michigan as of Tuesday morning is $3.64 a gallon, an increase of a dime from last week.

Always refinery problems or oil spill excuses. Real excuse is its purely politics!
