COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Downtown Development Authority Board approved a resolution on Wednesday morning that covers three downtown Coldwater facade renovation projects.
The Coldwater Main Street Program announced last week a total of $112,500 have been granted for projects at 49 West Chicago Street, Jeannie’s Diner and Southern Roots Salon & Spa.
Main Street Director Audrey Tappenden says those awarded grants have to meet Michigan Economic Development Corporation criteria.
Southern Roots Salon and Spa would get $50,000 while $35,000 would go to 49 West Chicago and $27,500 would go for the facade work at Jeannie’s Diner.
According to last week’s Coldwater Main Street press release, the selected projects include restoration of 11 historic non-functioning windows; mansard roof removal; three updated and/or refreshed paint schemes; tuck pointing and stucco repair; and some building maintenance.
The news release went on to state that net private investment tied to the projects is expected to exceed $260,000, with total project costs nearing $375,000.
The program is funded by a $75,000 grant from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation and $37,500 of matching funds from Coldwater Main Street.
Those receiving awards are tentatively scheduled to appear before the Historic District Commission during their next meeting on April 10.
Once the Commission approves the projects and confirmed that they abide by the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation, those receiving awards will execute grant agreements with Coldwater Main Street before beginning project work.
Projects are expected to be completed by the end of the year.
