BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – There are now three contested races in the August Republican Primary for seats on the Branch County Board of Commissioners.
Fifth District County Commissioner Alan McClellan has filed to run for another term. He is being challenged by David Mansfield for the seat which represents Algansee, Butler, California and Quincy Townships and the Village of Quincy.
In the other contested races as of Thursday morning, District One Commissioner Randall Hazelbaker is being challenged by Jessica Green while District Two Commissioner Jon Houtz is being challenged by John Towers.
There are two unopposed Commissioner candidates so far. Commission Chair Tim Stoll is seeking another term in District Three while Richard Swanson is running in District Four.
So far, the three candidates for Sheriff are Michael Thyng, Robin Swartz and Fred Blankenship.
County Clerk Terry Kubasiak, Prosecutor Zach Stempien, Drain Commissioner Mike Hard, Surveyor Ed Reed and Treasurer Steven Rutz are unopposed as of Thursday.
At last report, no Democratic Party candidates have filed.
The filing deadline to get on the August primary ballot is April 23.
