MATTESON TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – A pole barn fire at 674 Farrand Road on Thursday night caused nearly $250,000 worth of damage.
Bronson Fire Chief Scott Wilber says his department was dispatched at 7:43 p.m..
Crews arrived to find fire coming from the roof of an approximately 40 by 70 foot pole barn. Wilber reports a house 25 feet away did not suffer any damage due to quick action by the firefighters.
No one was home when the fire broke out. A neighbor noticed the smoke and called 911.
Sherwood, Colon, and Union City Fire Departments provided mutual aid and tanker trucks.
Damages to the contents are estimated at $150,000 and $100,000 to the building.
Crews were on scene for four-and-a-half hours and used about 80,000 gallons of water.
There were no injuries. The cause of the fire is currently undetermined.
