ANGOLA, IN (WTVB) – The Steuben County Sheriff’s Department says a teenager from the Fremont, Indiana area has been arrested in connection with multiple incidents of vandalism in the Lake Farm Estates area of Lake Gage.
18-year-old Gavin R. Willis was taken into custody on Wednesday by Sheriff’s detectives on an arrest warrant charging him with two counts of misdemeanor criminal mischief.
The arrest came after an investigation which started in November of 2023 with the first reported vandalism at a residence on Lane 220 at Lake Gage.
Chief Deputy Sheriff Mike Meeks said in a press release there were at least five incidents of vandalism between November and March which caused several thousands of dollars worth of property damage.
The Sheriff’s Office says they got numerous anonymous tips as well as video surveillance and other information from area residents which assisted in the identification of a suspect.
Detectives also reached out to the Prairie Heights School Police for assistance with identifying possible suspects which led to a second male juvenile offender being identified. The youngster was referred to the Steuben County Juvenile Probation Department.
Willis was booked into the Steuben County Jail and was being held without bond pending an initial court appearance.
The Indiana State Police and the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, Law Enforcement Division provided assistance.
