COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A second candidate from the area will seek a seat on the Michigan Supreme Court in the 2024 Election.
Branch County Circuit Court Judge Bill O’Grady has announced his intentions to run for the State’s highest court on the Republican side.
Both the Republican and Democratic Parties select candidates but judicial elections are non-partisan.
O’Grady has served as the Branch County Circuit Court judge since he defeated local attorney Chuck Lillis 8,188 to 7,469 for the seat in the 2008 General Election.
He will be seeking the seat currently held by Kyra Harris Bolden who is running for election after being appointed to the court by Governor Whitmer in 2022.
35th District Republican State Representative Andrew Fink announced last September he would run for the Michigan Supreme Court and give up his State House seat after his current term expires.
Fink is running for the seat occupied by retiring Justice David Viviano.
