A woman of strong faith, Dorothy M. Szafranski, 95, went to heaven Sunday, April 7, 2024 at Lakehouse Assisted Living in Coldwater, MI.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, April 11, 2024 at St. Mary’s of Assumption Church in Bronson at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Fr. Dan Hyman officiating. Interment will follow the service at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
The family will receive guests for visitation on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Dutcher Funeral Home in Bronson. A rosary will be said at 7:00 p.m.
She was born on October 1, 1928 to John and Pearl (Smoker) Losinski. She married Ted Szafranski on August 27, 1949 and he preceded her in death in 2011.
She worked in the office at the Bronson Reel Company for several years. Later, after 22 years, she retired from the Kirsch Company.
Dorothy was a life-long member of St. Mary of Assumption Church in Bronson, MI where she was also a member of the Ladies’ Rosary Society.
She volunteered with the Red Cross blood banks in her earlier years. Dorothy enjoyed playing cards, baking, taking walks, and watching the Detroit Tigers.
Mushroom hunts up north with Ted, her sister and brother-in-law Delcie and Clyde Kibiloski and best friends, Ed and Donna Bystry, were trips she looked forward to every year. The center of Dorothy’s life was her family.
Dorothy is survived by her children and their spouses: Ted (Linda) Szafranski of Saginaw, MI, Terry (Annette) Szafranski of Coldwater, and Trudy (Tom) Faulkner of Springfield, IL; her sister, Pearl Ann Guzy of Coldwater; her grandchildren: Trevor (Heather) Szafranski of Freeland, MI, Heather (Mike) Quellet of Saginaw, MI, Austin (Alayna) Szafranski of Coldwater, Evan (Bekah) Szafranski of Holt, MI, Abby (Jade) Bosworth of Vermontville, MI, Lauren (Travis) McKenna of Milan, MI, Trisha (Sammy) Juh of Alexandria, VA, T.J. Faulkner of Springfield, IL and Tori (fiancee Cory Queisser) Faulkner of Indianapolis, IN; her great grandchildren: Bentley, Breslyn, Brynlee, Harper, Archer, Emilia, Rosie, Barrett, Claire, and a little boy due in June.
In addition to her husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by her sister and her husband, Delcie and Clyde Kibiloski, her brother and his wife, Dave and Joyce Losinski, her infant sister Delphine Losinski, her brother-in-law, Bill Guzy and her great grandson, baby Owen Szafranski.
