READING, MI (WTVB) – The Quincy Orioles started the Big 8 Conference girls softball schedule with a doubleheader sweep of the Reading Rangers by scores of 13-0 and 18-3 on Tuesday afternoon.
Hannah Brown get her first career varsity win in the opener as she threw a one hit shutout while striking at five.
Miley Poindexter led the charge for the Orioles with three hits, four RBI’s and two stolen bases.
Payton Gross and Kaylee Modert each doubled and singled while collecting three RBIs apiece. Deziray Skirka had a tripled while Josie Mescher doubled.
Quincy took control of the second game with a eight run first inning.
Skirka had three hits including a homer and four RBI’s. Poindexter had three hits and five RBI’s. Makiya Feltner drove in three runs.
Brown was the winning pitcher in the second game as the Quincy defense played errorless ball.
