BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – The topic of allowing recreational marijuana businesses in Bronson is still being discussed.
The Bronson City Council talked about the issue during their meeting last Monday.
Mayor Matt Watkins told City Manager Brandon Mersman it should be at least explored as a source of revenue but more information for the community is needed.
A public hearing that offered different viewpoints on recreational marijuana was held by the City Council almost a year ago.
Following its approval by Michigan votes in November of 2018, the Bronson City Council decided two months later to opt out of the recreational marijuana law until the state sets up regulations. Communities that opt-out can opt-in at anytime if they want to allow businesses that sell recreational marijuana.
