COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater Public Safety Director Joe Scheid listed a number of accomplishments over the last year for the Coldwater Police Department during his annual report to the Coldwater City Council on April 8.
He said they have attempted to maintain and create opportunities in the community to foster trust and legitimacy thus establishing open lines of communication with citizens.
Scheid reported they are working on keeping their Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards Accreditation status updated.
According to Scheid, the crime rate in Coldwater dropped eight percent in 2023.
Of the reported crime in the city last year, Scheid says 76 percent of the cases were solved either by the Branch County Prosecutors office or as part of a plea bargain from another case.
