Barbara E. Aviza, 84, of Coldwater, passed away Saturday, April 13, 2024 surrounded by her loving family at ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital.
The funeral service will be held Thursday, April 18, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater with Pastor Mark Case officiating.
Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Girard.
Visitation will be held, prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater.
Barbara was born September 18, 1939 in Girard Township, MI to Robert & Kathleen (Rodgers) Burritt. She loved to tell stories and reminisce about her younger years growing up and her high school years hanging out with her many friends at Harry’s Ice Cream Parlor after school and on weekends.
Barbara graduated from Coldwater High School in 1957. After high school, Barbara began working at the Draft Board. She married David L. Aviza September 1958. They were married until 1969.
Barbara worked at the Community Health Center of Branch County as a switchboard operator and in the admitting and billing departments. Barbara also worked many years for the State of Michigan, at the Coldwater Regional Center, retiring in 1991.
Barbara enjoyed following politics, playing bingo, watching her favorite cooking shows and all kinds of music. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Barbara lived most of her life in Coldwater, MI until moving to Grand Haven, MI in 2004 where she spent the last 20 years of her life. She loved spending time at Lake Michigan sitting by the water and watching the beautiful sunset. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be dearly missed by all who loved her.
Barbara is survived by her children David (Lauren) Aviza of Emmett Twp., Pamela (Gary) Havens of Panama City Beach, FL; her siblings Robert (Margaret) Burritt, Ruth Bortner, Connie Klotz; her grandchildren Tiffany (James) Dagen, Corey (Lisa) Aviza, Holly (Will) Glossop, Andrew (Joey Weisman) Havens, Hailey Aviza; her great grandchildren Madison Lajoie and Emma Lajoie.
She was preceded in death by both parents and her brother William Burritt.
