THREE RIVERS, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Cardinals came within one out of getting a split of their doubleheader at Three Rivers on Thursday.
But the Wildcats rallied for the three runs in the last of the seventh of the second game after there were two outs as they defeated the Cardinals 6-5 to complete the doubleheader sweep.
Three Rivers used a eight-run first inning to win the opening game 14-4. Evan Porter drove in two runs for the Cardinals in the first game with a double and a single while Eddie Pool had an RBI single and Colten Calhoun drove in a run on a fielders choice.
Coldwater scored twice in the top of the seventh of the nightcap to take a 5-3 lead on an RBI double Brian Massey and a RBI single by Drake Thornton before the Wildcats rallied.
Calhoun had two hits. He and Dayton Ennis both had RBI doubles during a three-run second inning for the Cardinals.
