COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch County Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence Executive Director Kim Hemker says according to their preliminary numbers, they have raised about $55,000 so far from last Saturday’s Walk a Mile in their Shoes event on South Monroe Street.
The final figure is expected to be higher. Hemker said the early morning rain forced organizers to adjust the schedule for the 14th annual event.
The rain stopped by the middle of the morning and the sun actually came out by the time of the annual Walk A Mile and Dog Walk. Ironically, the theme for this year’s Walk a Mile in Their Shoes was “Open an Umbrella of Hope”.
The major sponsors were Southern Michigan Bank and Trust, Century Bank and Trust and McDonalds.
