ALLEN TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – A two vehicle crash east of Allen which injured a Jonesville man shut down a portion of U.S. 12 for over four hours on Monday.
The Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Department says the crash happened at about 10:51 a.m. at the intersection of West Chicago and Cronk Road.
Deputies determined that a 2019 Toyota Camry driven by 90-year-old William Bauer of Jonesville was southbound on Cronk Road when it entered the intersection at U.S. 12 and was struck by a westbound 2023 Western Star dump truck that was driven by 66-year-old Kevin Eichler of Coldwater.
Bauer was treated at the crash scene by first responders and then was flown by Survival Flight to Michigan Medicine in Ann Arbor for injuries sustained in the crash.
Deputies were assisted at the crash scene by fire departments from Allen Township, Hillsdale Township and Jonesville along with the Reading Emergency Unit.
The crash remains under investigation by the Hillsdale County Sheriff Office.
