COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Cardinals girls softball team improved their Interstate 8 Conference record to 4-2 on Tuesday with a doubleheader sweep of the Pennfield Panthers at the Rotary Softball Complex by scores of 6-0 and 5-4.
First game winning pitcher Mya Porter turned in a gem as she tossed a one hitter and struck out 13.
Only three Panthers managed to reach base.
Porter and Kenzie Searing both had three hits. Searing drove in two runs while Coley Burkhardt had a triple and Rylie Van Aken had two hits.
Searing was the winning pitcher in the second game thanks to her RBI single in the last of the sixth that drove in the winning run. It was her second hit of the game.
Porter had three hits and scored twice. Maren Debeau homered while Van Aken doubled and had two hits.
Coldwater’s overall record is now 7-12 after they have won five of their last six games.
