COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Cardinals rode the arms of Evan Porter and Dayton Ennis to a pair of complete-game victories against Pennfield Tuesday at Lowe Field, winning by scores of 9-2 and 6-1.
Porter won the opener, allowing 5 hits and 2 walks while getting 6 strikeouts in seven innings of work. He also drove in two runs along with Brady Massey. Drake Thornton, Kayden Roby, and Massey each had two hits as Coldwater scored a run in the first, 3 in the second, 4 in the third, and one in the fourth.
Ennis went the distance in the nightcap, allowing one run on 4 hits, 2 walks, and 3 strikeouts. Massey singled and doubled and drove in 3 runs, while Thornton doubled and Eddie Pool had two hits.
With the doubleheader sweep, the Cardinals improved to 10-10 overall, 6-0 in the Interstate 8. They will host cross-county rival Quincy on Thursday.
