ELKHART COUNTY, IN (WTVB) – The names of the two men who died in a plane crash near Bristol, Indiana on Tuesday afternoon are now known.
The small fixed wing aircraft took off from the Branch County Memorial Airport in Coldwater at 1:40 p.m. on Tuesday before it crashed nearly 40 minutes later.
Friends have told WNDU-TV and WSBT-TV the victims were the pilot, Wendell “Ray” Ridenour, and passenger Bill Holdgrafer. Both men were from Elkhart, Indiana.
WSBT-TV reports their identities have been confirmed by officials with the Elkhart Municipal Airport where the plane was hangered.
WNDU-TV reports the plane initially flew from Elkhart to Coldwater where it landed at 12:22 p.m..
The cause of the crash is not known. The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration continue to investigate the crash.
