COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Jefferson Elementary School in Coldwater was recently awarded a rebate check of over 13,700 by the Coldwater Board of Public Utilities thanks to the utility’s Simply Efficient Energy Efficiency Program.
It follows a two-year conversion to energy-saving changes by the school.
The CBPU Energy Efficiency program is available to any utility residential or commercial/industrial customer.
According to a press release from the City of Coldwater, Jefferson Elementary School will be using about 60 percent less energy in lighting alone and will see additional savings with the use of occupancy sensors.
The energy savings at the school included the installation of occupancy sensors and new LED exit signs, replacing old fluorescent and metal halide lightbulbs to LED bulbs and installing a Variable Frequency Drive on the fan of the HVAC system.
