UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – Union City split a non-conference doubleheader with Galesburg-Augusta on Thursday night at Alumni Field.
The Chargers dropped the opener 12-1 before coming back to win the nightcap 7-2 as they handed the Rams just their second loss of the season.
Ryan Zweng’s solo homer was the only run for Union City in the first game.
Union City’s Owen Jackson had three hits including a double in the victory. He was also the winning pitcher as the southpaw allowed eight hits and two runs over seven innings. He struck out five and walked one.
Zweng collected two hits for Union City while the Chargers reached base 10 times on walks.
The Chargers are now 9-10 and host Springport on Tuesday in a Big 8 twin bill.
