COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater came from behind to beat Quincy 6-4 in the first game of a scheduled baseball doubleheader Thursday at Lowe Field. The second game was suspended due to weather in the top of the third inning with the Orioles leading 4-0.
In the completed game, Coldwater saw an early 1-0 lead evaporate when Quincy scored 3 runs in the second inning off starting pitcher Eddie Pool. The Cardinals answered with a run in the their half of the second, two in the third, and two more in the fifth. The Orioles added a run in the sixth.
Landon Auble got the win in relief of Pool, throwing 4-2/3 innings and allowing the final Quincy run on three hits. Brady Massey picked up the save. Porter doubled, and Kayden Roby had two singles. The Cardinals improved to 11-10 and are off until next Tuesday, when they resume Interstate 8 play at Parma Western.
For Quincy, Grant Holroyd had a double, while Zak Rubley drove in two runs. Alex Barry, the second of three pitchers used, was charged with the loss. The Orioles fell to 8-5 and will host the Oriole Classic on Saturday.
