COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The process that will lead to this summer’s demolition of the old Branch County Jail is continuing.
Branch County Administrator Bud Norman told the Board of Commissioners during their work session on Thursday that a pre-bid meeting was held the previous day.
Commissioners are expected to be presented with a recommended bid for the demolition work later this month.
After the old jail is knocked down, it’s not known yet how the property will be used.
The Commissioners heard a presentation that lasted for over a half hour from Doctor Jeff Studebaker of Veregy Corporation on the installation of solar panels and a geothermal heating and cooling system at the county building which houses the Community Health Agency offices.
Commissioner Randall Hazelbaker tried to bring the matter forward to Tuesday’s meeting but his motion died for lack of a second as other Commissioners wanted to review the proposed project further during their next work session on May 23.
