Rodney J. Carpenter, 64, of Quincy passed away Saturday, May 11, 2024 at Ascension Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo.
A service will be held Saturday, May 25, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Bethel Gilead Community Church, officiated by Pastor Jim Erwin. Interment will follow at California Corners Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Friday, May 24, 2024 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater, and again Saturday prior to the service beginning at 9:00 a.m. at Bethel Gilead Community Church.
There will be a luncheon to follow at Bethel Gilead Community Church.
Rodney was born January 20, 1960 to Norman and Betty (Bradley) Carpenter in Angola, IN. He graduated from Coldwater High School in 1978.
After graduation he worked as an auto mechanic at Jay’s Oldsmobile and Bobilya Chrysler for 15 years. In 1993 he started his business Carpenter’s Dock Service and has been serving the local and surrounding area for the last 31 years in addition to his other business in the winter, Midwest Firewood. Rodney also served on the Algansee Township Planning Board.
Rodney was a member of the Kalamazoo Valley Antique Engine & Machinery Club and enjoyed participating in driving the antique tractors across the Mackinaw Bridge. He also enjoyed riding his Harley, farming, attending truck pulls, and spending time with his grandchildren, family and friends, as well as helping others.
Rodney is survived by his parents, Norman and Betty Carpenter; his sons Andrew (Jessica) Carpenter of Quincy, Austin Carpenter of Quincy; his siblings Scott (Jan) Carpenter of Coldwater, Todd (Barb) Carpenter of Quincy, Lisa Gaudiello of Marshall; his grandchildren Adelynn and Grace Carpenter; his girlfriend Becky Lange; and many nieces and nephew.
Rodney was preceded in death by his grandparents Arthur and Mabel Carpenter, and Preston and Nancy Bradley.
