BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Cardinals finished fifth out of nine teams on Wednesday in the M.H.S.A.A. Girls Tennis Regional meet hosted by Harper Creek.
Parma Western won the team title with 23 points followed by Vicksburg with 19 points, Edwardsburg with 18 points, Harper Creek with 12 points and Coldwater with 11 points.
Coldwater’s Julianna Cowles finished second at number two singles. She won two matches before losing in the finals to Scarlett Hosner of Vicksburg 6-4, 6-1.
As for the other Cardinals, Janet Rucker lost in the second round at number one singles. Claire Hawver at number three singles and Maddie Grife at number four singles both reached the semi-finals.
The number two doubles team of Dakota Allen and Mallory Morick along with the number three doubles team of Alexis Wood and Kinley Brown both reached the semi-finals. The number one doubles team of Carly Krzyzanski and Luci Cunningham and the number four doubles team of Violet Cunkle and Harper Cummings were eliminated in the second round.
