QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – After the Quincy Village Council decided last month to keep the village’s police department, a search is being conducted to fill the Police Chief vacancy.
Village Manager Brittney Butler reported to the Village Council on Tuesday night that a six-member hiring panel has interviewed three candidates for the position.
Butler said she was currently doing background investigations and a formal recommendation will be made by the committee after completion at a special council meeting which will be scheduled at a later date.
The hiring panel consists of Council President Mike Hagaman, President Pro-tem Andrew Craig, Clerk/Treasurer Marci Clancy, Street Foreman Russ Face, resident Gary Abbott and Butler.
In deciding to keep the police department last month, the Village Council accepted a proposal from Butler to increase the Police Chief salary without benefits from just over $61,000 to $70,000. When the benefits are included, the salary would increase to over $106,000.
