BETHEL TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – A Sturgis woman was killed Saturday afternoon when her vehicle struck a tree on Block Road south of Slisher Road.
The Branch County Sheriff’s Department reports a 2003 Acura MDX driven by 40-year-old Guinevere Shaina Mow was heading south on Block Road just after 3:00 p.m. when she crossed the center line.
The vehicle left the roadway to the east and struck a tree. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 4-year-old in the vehicle was flown from the scene to Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo with serious injuries.
The Sheriff’s Department says the child was in a proper child safety seat while the driver was not wearing a seatbelt.
The accident is still under investigation. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by LifeCare Ambulance, Med Flight and the Bronson Fire Department.
