SOUTH HAVEN, MI (WTVB) – The Union City Chargers came within two shots of qualifying for the M.H.S.A.A. Division Three Lower Peninsula Boys Golf Finals on Tuesday during the regional meet at HawksHead Golf Club in South Haven.
The Big 8 Conference Champion Chargers were fourth out of 16 teams with a score of 371. The top three teams that qualified for the State Finals were Schoolcraft (353), South Haven (357) and Dowagiac (369).
There was more heartbreak for Union City as Landyn Crance missed qualifying as an individual for the Lower Peninsula Finals by one shot as he finished fourth with a 88. Springport’s Brody Baum got the final State Final spot with a round of 87.
As for the other Union City scores, Logan Mears fired a 90, Carter Krummrey had a 94 while Jeremy Zehr had a 99.
Quincy was fifth with a score of 385. Braylon Estlow led the Orioles with a 93 while Keegan Neely had a 95, Caleb Bostic had a 98 and Grant Carter fired a 99.
Bronson finished 16th in the final standings. Carson Norton led the Vikings with a 104. Clayton Shortridge had a 123 while Aiden Whitaker and Drew Shoup carded 127’s.
