Ferris Loyal Jones, 79, of Burlington Township passed away Sunday, June 16, 2024 at his home surrounded by family.
A graveside service will be held at Riverside Cemetery in Union City. A date will soon be confirmed.
Cremation has taken place.
The family is being served by Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation in Union City.
Ferris was born April 10, 1945 in South Bend, Indiana, to Loyal and Martha “Olive” (Walker) Jones. They moved to Union City when he was 2 years old and lived there ever since.
He graduated from Union City High school in 1963 and married the former Eva Diamond on June 21, 1985 in Coldwater. They were married for 38 years.
He was a journeyman machinist at Union Pump in Battle Creek for 35 years. He would officially retire May 31, 2002.
Ferris was a gun enthusiast, he enjoyed cleaning and rebuilding them, reloading ammunition, target shooting and hunting.
Being a Jack of all trades, he built his entire home excluding the framing, from the carpentry, to plumbing, to electricity. He could just do it all.
He was also persistent in his pursuit for knowledge, especially history. Above all else, he loved his family.
In addition to his loving wife, Ferris is survived by his sons, Eric Jones of Coldwater and David (Samantha) Dilts of Bronson; his grandchildren, Mandy (Matt Graham) Jones of Kalamazoo and Jasmin Dilts of Harford; his great-grandchild Charlotte Graham; and his twin brother Dennis Jones of Union City.
In addition to his parents, Ferris is preceded in death by his son Robert Jones and his brother Norman Jones.
