COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Work is scheduled to begin on the first phase of the Western Meadows project on Monday, July 8.
City Manager Keith Baker said during Monday night’s City Council meeting that the construction of a new road and utility infrastructure is scheduled to take place on that day to open up the first phase of a new single-family residential subdivision.
(There will be intermittent lane closures on Western Avenue while the contractor extends utilities to the site.)
The City Council approved a bid of just over $492,000 from Parrish Excavating of Quincy on May 28 for the construction of Western Meadows Phase 1 in the area of Western Avenue and State Street.
The City bought about 14 1/2 acres on Western Avenue in October 2016 from Robert Rumsey for $95,819 with plans to use the land for future housing development.
Meanwhile, Baker reported a number of repairs are taking place at the Robert W. Browne Recreation Center.
The recreation center will be closed from July 22 to July 31 so that the work can be completed.
