TURKEY LAKE, IN (WTVB) – A domestic dispute at a residence on Turkey Lake in Steuben County on Saturday night led to a man being stabbed and a woman being taken into custody.
Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy Mike Meeks said in a press release that deputies were called to the residence on Lane 124 just after 6:00 p.m..
The preliminary investigation indicated that a man and woman was involved in a domestic dispute during which the female involved allegedly stabbed the male in the back.
The man was treated at the scene by Steuben County EMS before being transported to an area hospital in stable condition.
During an initial interview with Sheriff Department detectives, 55-year-old Deanna Elaine Hembree of LaGrange, Indiana claimed she was struck in the face with a closed fist by the man but the Sheriff’s Department says Hembree appeared to be uninjured.
Hembree was later taken into custody and booked into the Steuben County Jail on a felony charge Domestic Battery with a Deadly Weapon.
She was being held without bond pending an initial court appearance.
Alcohol was involved in the incident which remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office.
