COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Planning Commission approved a Special Land Use Permit request on Monday night for proposed residential housing in the historic building at 22 West Pearl Street.
The permit is needed since the property is located within the C-2 Central Business District.
Grace Roberts represented GNR Rentals and Real Estate during Monday’s meeting. She said they want to renovate and convert the building into residential housing units on all levels.
The building was previously used for residential housing on the upper levels before a fire took place in November of 2020.
The property has been vacant since the fire. Attempts to demolish the building have been denied the City of Coldwater’s Historic District Commission due to the historic nature of the building.
The Commission approved a request last month from GNR Rentals and Real Estate to remove and replace windows at the structure.
