PLEASANT TOWNSHIP, IN (WTVB) – Two persons from Auburn, Indiana were injured in a Monday night motorcycle crash on Bayview Road near Angola.
Steuben County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Mike Meeks said in a press release that the crash happened near Lake James Lane 345 just after 10:00 p.m..
Deputies found a woman in the road who appeared to be unresponsive while a man was found on the ground next to a crashed 2019 Harley Davidson.
The Sheriff’s Department says a preliminary crash scene investigation indicated that 35-year-old Dennis Marshall did not negotiate a curve in the road for an unknown reason.
The left side of the undercarriage scraped the road, causing the motorcycle to rotate 180 degrees counterclockwise on its axis.
The rotation caused the female passenger identified as 24-year-old Kaylie Wallen to be ejected.
Wallen suffered a possible head injury and was transported by ambulance to a Fort Wayne area hospital in serious condition.
Marshall suffered abrasions to his lower body as well as a possible head injury and was also transported by ambulance to a Fort Wayne area hospital in stable condition.
The Sheriff’s Department says neither one wore a helmet at the time of the crash which remains under investigation.
Assisting the Sheriff’s Office at the scene were Steuben County EMS, Angola Fire
Rescue, and Angola Police.
