BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – The Bronson Police Department wants to start a community-based program to compile a list of residences and businesses with exterior security camera systems.
This would include multiple cameras and or a single doorbell camera. Police Chief Stephen Johnson says the list would assist them in utilizing more local resources to fight crime and catch criminal behavior.
According to a post on the department’s Facebook page, when a crime takes place in a specific area, program registered residents in that area would be notified to see if they would be willing to check their camera systems for video footage of possible criminal activity.
Registrants also can provide video footage in a preventative measure as well. This free program would be totally voluntary and kept confidential.
If you or your business would like to know more about this program, called Community Video Registration Program, contact Chief Johnson or Deputy Chief Frank Barker at (517) 369-9083.
