COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater Main Street Director Audrey Tappenden reported to the Downtown Development Authority board on Wednesday morning that the historic Merriman Dental Office building at 25 West Chicago has been sold.
The building was placed on the market last March by previous owners Rhonda Ives and Neil Degolia. The building was listed for $140,000.
Tappenden was not in a position to say who the new owner is but she indicated it was someone who was familiar with the area.
Meanwhile, Tappenden told Mayor Tom Kramer the new owners of the property at 71-73 West Chicago and at the former Lefty’s Lounge on South Monroe are trying to get their funding together.
The Coldwater City Council approved a resolution and sales agreement with Ibrahim and Khalil Abdullah last October so that the Abdullahs could purchase the city owned building at 71 and 73 West Chicago for $80,000. The Abdullahs offered plans to develop the property into a international grocery and Mediterranean restaurant.
The City Council approved a $32,000 offer last January made by Cody Hawkes and his wife Sydney to purchase the Lefty’s property at 10 South Monroe Street. The Hawkes intended to open a specialty ice cream shop in the space by next summer.
