COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – An anchor store in the Willowbrook Plaza is closing.
The Coldwater Big Lots store will be shutting down in the near future according to a post on the store’s Facebook page.
It stated, “We have such a tight knit group that has dedicated many years to this company. For a lot of us, our futures are unknown. We start our closing process on Friday. Please keep our staff in your thoughts and prayers, we will need all the support as we navigate through this devastating change in our lives.”
The news of the Big Lots closing came one day after it was announced by Willowbrook Plaza owners Brookwood Capital Advisors that Planet Fitness along with a meat market, bakery and yoga studio would be opening soon in the shopping center.
Big Lots is a discount retailer which is based in Columbus, Ohio. Between 35 and 40 locations were being closed according to a U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission filing.
Company leaders blamed inflation and difficulties in competing as the reasons behind the stores being shut down.
