LITCHFIELD, MI (WTVB) – Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer is scheduled to be in Litchfield on Monday morning to take part in the official ribbon cutting of LuxWall, Incorporated’s newly completed clean-energy manufacturing compound.
LuxWall will host what is being called the world’s first high-volume vacuum-insulating glass production facilities.
The company produces energy efficient glazing products that will be sold to residential and commercial customers in the U.S., Canada, and Europe.
The new site was announced by the Governor in July 2023 and part of a two-phase, $165-million investment from LuxWall that they say will create 450 jobs in the state.
LuxWall is looking at sites in Detroit for its second facility that the company says will triple production capacity.
The projects are being made possible by a $6 million performance-based grant from the Michigan Business Development Program.
The company also received over $31 million in federal cost sharing from the U.S. Department of Energy and the Affordable Clean Energy Plan.
