LANSING, MI (WTVB) – While state lawmakers are in their districts this summer, the issue of minimum wages and tipped workers has been one they have been fielding questions on ever since the state Supreme Court struck down a lame-duck adopt and amend tactic by the Legislature in 2018 on a minimum wage petition submitted by the group One Fair Wage.
17th district State Senator Jonathan Lindsey says the restaurant industry is worried about what might happen next.
Lindsey wants to get rid of income taxes on tipped wages.
Business groups have been holding sessions with its members to go over the ramifications of the high court’s ruling.
The Michigan West Coast Chamber takes up the matter at its closed-door Advocacy in Action program on September 6th.
