HILLSDALE COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – The Hillsdale County Road Commission says the contractor for the reconstruction of the Territorial Road bridges east and west of Carpenter Road is working steadily at completing the bridges in a timely manner.
The Commission posted on its Facebook page they have received a lot of questions about the re-opening of Territorial Road which has been closed since last November due to the reconstruction of the two bridges.
The Commission points out the project clause of the contract said the open to traffic date shall be October 18, 2024, with clean-up and restoration wrapping up by November 8, 2024.
This is the time frame the prime contractor, Milbocker and Sons, has to complete the project without liquidated damages.
The Commission says they don’t expect the work will take until October which is well within the contract.
Questions or concerns can be directed to the Hillsdale County Road Commission at (517) 437-4458
It is hard to believe that in 2024 with all the technology that exists it would take 1 year to complete this type of bridge project.
If this is the lever of construction skills that exists we are in deep trouble should a serious problem occur. I can’t believe that the County was completely satisfied with shutting down that road for a full year. (Coming in November)
