BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – Branch County and surrounding counties are under a Heat Advisory for Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. as the National Weather Service is calling for heat index values around or greater than 100.
Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses to occur. Forecasters say there is still potential for shower and thunderstorm activity to limit high temperatures.
Warm and humid conditions are expected Tuesday night with lows in the 70s.
The heat has altered school plans. Because of the heat, Pansophia Academy will be closed on Tuesday. According to a post on the district’s Facebook page, the determining factor for closing was the safety of their bus riders, many of whom have over an hour long bus ride, and they are also down one bus driver for the Tuesday afternoon’s routes.
Bronson Community Schools has announced that Tuesday, August 27th will be a half day of school. Classes at Bronson Jr/Sr High School will be dismissed at 11:20 a.m.. Ryan Elementary School will dismiss students at 11:30 a.m. while Anderson Elementary School students will be dismissed at 11:35 a.m..
Superintendent Marc Kramer says Quincy Community Schools will have a half day of classes on Tuesday due to the heat.
The Branch ISD will have a half day of school on Tuesday and there will only be a morning session at the Branch Area Career Center.
Due to the heat advisory, Tuesday night’s final Entertainment Under the Stars program at Heritage Park has been postponed for a week. The Delbert Walling Group is now scheduled to perform next Tuesday night, September 3 at 7:00 p.m..
