COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The City of Coldwater has announced that Coldwater Board of Public Utility crews will begin their semi-annual hydrant flushing throughout the City on Monday, September 16.
Hydrant flushing will take place between 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. each day, and is scheduled to finish on Friday, September 20.
Drivers should be alert and proceed with caution through the detour area while hydrant flushing is taking place.
Hydrant flushing will start with Ward 1. It will then take place in wards 4, 2, and 3.
Officials say this process ensures water quality and that the City’s water distribution systems are working properly.
During this time, residents may notice a slight discoloration in their water due to mineral deposits being stirred up and flushed through the system. If this occurs, slowly run cold water out of the faucet until the water becomes clear.
The CBPU suggests that residents do their laundry prior to hydrant flushing.
