UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – The newly renovated Alumni Field will make its prime time debut this Friday night as the Union City Chargers play their first home football game of the 2024 season against the Stockbridge Panthers.
Union City Community School District voters approved a sinking fund millage renewal proposal in August of 2021 which provided a portion of the funding for the replacement of the Alumni Field bleachers as well as for other projects in the district.
Superintendent Chris Katz thanked the community for their support in a podcast he posted on the district’s Facebook page.
The renovation of Alumni Field included new restrooms and a remodeled press box. The concession stand has new countertops, cabinets, sinks, paint and epoxy flooring.
Katz says Friday night will be special.
The Union City Chargers Booster Club will be offering tours of the remodeled facility as well as a free cookout from 5:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. on Friday night before the football game.
