COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater Community Schools Grades 6 through 12 Advanced Studies Curriculum Chair Brian Stevens announced on Wednesday that the high school’s Advanced Placement Scores readily beat several global averages in 2024.
Coldwater High School provides AP classes in eleven disciplines equivalent to college-level courses. After taking these courses, students have the opportunity to take a culminating test given throughout the world in May.
Scores run from one to five, with a score of three or above generally earning college credit in 1,700 colleges throughout the United States.
Coldwater students beat the global passing average in seven of the 11 disciplines.
According to Stevens, class averages were higher than the global average in Calculus, English Literature, Physics, Precalculus, Psychology, US Government, and US History.
Stevens stated, “I’m very proud of our dedicated teachers. I’ve traveled around the country conducting workshops, getting the chance to observe other teachers and districts. Coldwater High School does very well in AP, year in year out. We’re very fortunate to have ambitious students.”
Coldwater High School AP teachers are Mark DeMeester, Robert Hostetler, Matt Lock, Mike McConnell, Kalyn Moore, Arielle Norris, Ryan Scheetz, Jamie Spray, Brian Stevens, and Nathan Waterbury.

This is great news but why only “advanced placement”?
Why just the chosen students?
Why can’t we do this will the student body as a whole?
