BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – The Bronson City Council passed a resolution on Monday night which supported a grant application that would partially fund security cameras at the Bronson Police Department.
The grant funds would come from the Michigan Township Participating Plan Risk Reduction Grant Program.
City Manager Brandon Mersman says the grant will only cover up to $2,500 of the cost for security camera installations. The resolution states the City will provide a match of at least $14,697.50 for their commitment to this project.
The City has used grants from this program in the past for traffic control safety equipment as well as for cameras at Greenwald Park and at City Hall.
It was felt there was a need to add security cameras with Bronson Police moving to their new building earlier this year.
Police Chief Stephen Johnson has an idea where a couple of the cameras should be located.
Quotes have been received from four companies. ASI Security had the second lowest proposal of $17,197.50 for 32 cameras.
The lowest quote of $14,154.65 came from ATI Networks but that was for 16 cameras.
