COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Board of Public Utilities has issued a Scam Alert after they received reports of scammers texting and emailing their customers.
The CBPU says the scammers claim to be one of their employees in order to receive payment.
The utility does not currently contact customers for payment via text and rarely sends emails regarding payment arrangements.
If an email is sent, it is with the message to contact customer service.
If you ever feel like something isn’t right and you may be part of a scam, call the CBPU customer service department at (517) 279-9531 to ensure you’re speaking to one of their employees.
