COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County 9-1-1 Communications Board discussed a proposed contract between the county and LifeCare Ambulance during their monthly meeting on Wednesday.
With the old contract running out, LifeCare has submitted two options for service.
The first is a 3-Unit System which includes two units that would be available 24 hours a day plus a third unit that would work 12 hours per day, with a response time of 12 minutes or less for Priority one calls. That option would cost $385,000.
The second option is two units operating 24 hours per day with a response time of 18 minutes or less for Priority one calls, at a cost of $75,000.
After discussing the proposal, 911 Board members recommended to the Board of Commissioners they wanted to see more options for extra coverage during peak hours.
Bronson Fire Chief Scott Wilber said getting a different option would be a good idea rather than dropping back to a two unit system.
He pointed out not every fire department goes to medical calls.
LifeCare representatives are scheduled to attend the Commissioners work session on September 19 to discuss the contract further.
