COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Firefighters from four departments were called in Friday afternoon to battle a barn fire at the Robert Patch property on Jonesville Road just east of I-69.
The fire was reported just after 3:00 p.m.. Coldwater firefighters along with automatic mutual aid from the Quincy Fire Department were initially called as the barn was fully involved in flames.
The raging blaze led to a call for tankers from the Union City and Bronson Fire Departments.
The Branch County Sheriff’s Department provided traffic control while LifeCare Ambulance stood by. No injuries were reported.
Patch said in a Facebook post that the house along with two other barns were saved with repairable damage. He thanked firefighters, volunteers, neighbors, family and passerbys for their support.
Coldwater Fire Marshal Steve Trall says Patch discovered the fire after he thought he heard someone coming up his driveway. He came out of another barn and saw flames coming through the roof.
The 2,500 square foot building was called a total loss with damages estimated at $250,000. It’s not known what caused the fire.
Firefighters were on the scene until about 5:00 p.m..
