COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The City of Coldwater is once again asking local businesses and community members to “join the fight” with them as they accept donations during the month of October for Coldwater Board of Public Utilities’ Breast Cancer Awareness fundraising competition.
The breast cancer awareness fundraising competition is a challenge open to communities within the Michigan South Central Power Agency which includes the Cities of Coldwater, Marshall and Hillsdale and the Village of Clinton.
Last year, the four communities raised just over $4,100 to donate to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
The competition was designed to raise awareness for a good cause, foster collaboration between MSCPA communities, and formally kick off Public Power Week.
The winning community will be announced in early November and will be presented by the CBPU with the “Pink Ribbon Award”.
Based on population and the money that each community raised last year, the community goals are:
City of Coldwater: $3,000
City of Hillsdale: $1,600
City of Marshall: $1,350
Village of Clinton: $500
There will be donation jars and paper pink ribbons to honor breast cancer survivors and those who have lost their fight against the disease at the City Hall and Doctor Browne Recreation Center customer service desks. The City of Coldwater is also accepting donations on its Susan G. Komen community fundraiser page at https://bit.ly/4e1rgbo.
