BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – An annual event that honors the memory of Bronson High School graduate Sarah Haylett-Jones will be held next weekend.
“Sarah Irene’s Fall Harvest” will take place at 385 Otis Road behind the Ovid Township Hall from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Saturday, October 12 and Sunday, October 13, 2024.
Kim Haylett says the annual event carries on her daughter’s legacy.
Pumpkins, Indian corn, gourds and corn shocks will be among the items available. There will also be a bake sale.
The proceeds will go to the Deputy Sarah Irene Haylett-Jones Memorial Fund and to the Branch Area Careers Center Criminal Justice Scholarship.
Haylett-Jones lost her life at the age of 27 in October 2008 while serving in the line of duty as a deputy in the Monroe County, Indiana Sheriff’s Department.
She died two days after a teenage driver hit her as she was directing traffic around a wrecker that was removing a stranded vehicle from a ravine near Bloomington, Indiana.
