COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A new contract between LifeCare Ambulance and Branch County is expected to be discussed during the Branch County Board of Commissioners work session on October 17.
Two options were initially presented by LifeCare but the County 911 Board requested additional options for services last month.
Ron Slagle and Steve Frisbie from LifeCare attended the Commissioners work session on September 19 as another option has been presented.
The first option was a 3-Unit System which included two units that would be available 24 hours a day plus a third unit that would work 12 hours per day, with a response time of 12 minutes or less for priority one calls. That option would cost $385,000.
The second option called for two units operating 24 hours per day with a response time of 18 minutes or less for priority one calls, at a cost of $75,000.
The third and newest option called for a 3-Unit System which includes two 24-hour units plus a third unit that would be available five days a week, eight hours per day with a response time of 15 minutes or less for priority one calls at a cost of $192,500.
Slagle and Frisbie spoke about the reasons for the request for payment for services and reimbursement costs when they met with Commissioners.
The County currently does not pay anything for having two units available 24/7.
Commissioner Tom Matthew told Chair Tim Stoll during last Friday’s meeting that they should look into having a seat on the LifeCare board.
The current contract has expired. A new contract would be three to four years with yearly costs being kept at the same level, unless reimbursement costs are increased from the various agencies.
